Carpet

Installing carpet in our customers home or office provides a warm and comfortable choice that is also sound-asborbing. As flooring technologies have advanced, carpet is now stronger, softer and more stain-resistant than ever before but still carries our industry-leading warranties.

Carpet One Lexington's portfolio offers customers more options when shopping for carpet. We carry more exclusive brands, beyond Shaw and Mohawk, than any other flooring store in Central Kentucky. Our carpet selections include builder grade carpet through high end brands including Prestige, Stanton, Nourison, Hagaman, Kheritan, Rosecore, and Rebel to fit any budget.

The five primary types of carpets are: level loop, pattern, frieze, plush, and textured. They are determined based on how the fibers are attached to the carpet backing.

Types of Carpet

Card One

Level Loop

Loop carpet consists of yarns that are looped and uncut on the carpet surface. It has strength and inherent soil hiding capabilities. Its shadings also resist traffic patterns, while making colors appear rich. This carpet type is ideal for heavy traffic areas.

Card Two

Pattern

A combination of high cut tufts and lower loops create a variety of sculpted patterns. Patterned carpet is often tough and durable, offering good performance in areas that see a lot of activity. Patterned carpet also adds a dimension of texture within a room and hides traffic patterns.

Card Three

Frieze

Friezes are often called 'Twists' and include Shags and Cables. Highly twisted yarns give frieze carpets a contemporary look and make them a smart choice for any active part of your home. Best of all, they're less likely to show vacuum marks or footprints than other cut pile styles.

Card One

Plush

This type of carpet provides a more formal appearance than other cut pile constructions. A plush carpet has a dense, deep pile. They are subject to revealing vacuum cleaner sweeper marks and footprints due to light reflection. Delustred (non-shiny) yarns may reduce this shade variation.

Card Two

Texture

Textured cut piles also may be called “trackless” or “foot-print free”. These names describe the tendency of this construction to show fewer footprints and sweeper marks than other cut pile constructions. Curling of the fiber reduces light reflectance, thus reducing the appearance of footprints.

Carpet Fibers

Additionally, there are a variety of types of carpet fibers. Some carpets have synthetic fibers, while others have natural fibers like wool. At Carpet One, we principally sell nylon, wool, polyester and triexta.

+
One of our most popular carpet fibers, it is known for its durability and high performance attributes. Nylon carpets can be treated with stain resistant solution during its manufacturing. While it may be a more expensive fiber, it has a reputation for being a top performer.
+
Inherently stain-resistant, it is also incredibly fade-resistant for areas that are exposed to significant sunlight. Polyester carpet serves as a popular, more affordable option but is not as durable or resilient as nylon.

+
As a truly green product, natural and non-synthetic wool carpet offers excellence in resilience and durability. Wool cleans up well, is naturally stain-resistant and can hold up to ten times its body weight in moisture. If having an 'all-natural' carpet is important, wool is a customers best choice, but also among the most expensive.
+
The newest fiber in the carpet industry. Triexta was originally defined as polyester but is now recognized as more durable and resilient than conventional polyester.
